Labor of Love:

More than a daycare

We are an early learning and development family childcare home. In our classroom, your child will be taught skills that are age and developmentally appropriate to promote a lifelong love of learning as well as provide skills in co-operative play and interactions with their peers and adults.

Labor of Love started in 2015 to fill the need of quality childcare programs on the Westside of South Bend.

Labor of Love Childcare, LLC started in 2015 as Labor of Love, LLC to fill the need of quality afterschool programs on the Westside of South Bend. Labor of Love revamped to discontinue afterschool programming and offer childcare and babysitting services only in September 2018.

Labor of Love was created after noticing the need to create an environment for very young children focusing on ages birth to 3 years old that promotes learning, but mimics a child’s natural environment, “home”. This ideology should help promote continuity of care and ease the transition from their home to “school”.

Labor of Love also noticed the importance of providing quality, early learning experiences for these children to serve as the building blocks for future learning.  We plan to do this by offering small class sizes and very low adult to child ratio to offer more personalized and individual care for each child in our care.

Our Owner

LaDawn White

My name is LaDawn White and I am the director/owner of Labor of Love Childcare. My desire is to offer quality childcare options to accommodate a variety of family childcare needs. I have over a decade of experience educating and interacting with children and their families with a specific focus on children ages birth to 3 years old. During the years, I have been in the field of Early Childhood Education I believe that it is important to implement philosophies from various early childhood curricula or frameworks. However, Labor of Love primarily follows the HighScope framework which focuses on following a child’s interest in structuring the learning involvement, caregivers being facilitators of learning, children making choices throughout the day and helping children to resolve conflicts appropriately with their peers and learning materials.

PATHS TO QUALITY

Paths to QUALITY™ is Indiana’s statewide quality rating and improvement system for early care and education. It consists of four levels and each level builds on the foundation of the previous one. Providers start at Level 1 and work their way towards national accreditation at the highest level, Level 4. These advancements result in significant quality improvements at every level.

Level 3 Programs use a curriculum that supports children’s learning and school readiness. Level 3 programs focus on the professional development of their staff. Additionally, they incorporate family and staff input into their program.
